LEJOG Chapter 1: Land’s End to Perranporth walk and wild camping.
Setting off on my Lejog – some thoughts. I have checked and re-checked my kit list and pack. All my electrical equipment (phone, iPod, head torch, Flip 10 power pack) is fully charged. My hair’s cut as short as I dare (number 4 all over) and I’ve shaved off my beard to get me through as long as possible. I have even removed hair from anywhere that might trap sweat and start to smell, cut my nails and enjoyed a last bath.
I’m leaving the day after tomorrow, and now the reality of this challenge is starting to bite. Reality of the final preparations for my Land’s End to John O’Groats wild camping challenge. What will I miss? What am I looking forward to?
I’m trying to walk from Land’s End to John O’Groats, via the three peaks of Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis. I’m going to try and wild camping every night to see if it’s possible to complete this challenge on a tiny budget.
