This is my review of the Inov-8 Venturelite Pant. These trousers are designed for hiking and include specific features for added comfort when carrying a backpack. They are a simple but highly effective, well-fitting trouser without any unnecessary additions. By far the most comfortable hiking trousers I have ever worn – very impressed.

Comfort
I’ve started with the comfort of the Venturelite Pant because this is where they excel. They are the most comfortable and best fitting hiking trousers that I’ve worn. Just tight enough to be comfortable but not restrictive and just loose enough not to be called leggings. They are ideal when scrambling and do not hinder movement and are less likely to catch on barb wire fences etc.

The trousers have a wide elasticated waist band which is just tight enough for a good fit. This is extremely comfortable under a rucksack waist belt. There’s no belt loops on the trousers, so there’s no way of changing the fit. This is fine as they are designed specifically for hiking and you’ll likely be carrying all your gear in a rucksack or waist pack. But the trousers are not suitable if you’re out for a short walk and wish to carry anything of any weight in your trouser pockets as they’ll probably not stay up comfortably.

Features
Three pockets, two hand and one thigh, all with light weight zips.
The lower trouser legs are elasticated bottom leg cuffs and have short zips 5″ long.
Material has 4 way stretch treated with fluorocarbone free DWR coating.

Material
The Inov-8 Venturelite Pant is made from a relatively thin water resistant, windproof and stretchy material. 90% nylon and 10% elastane. It seems to be pretty tough and is extremely comfortable against the skin, even when it’s wet. The trousers will keep a reasonable amount of wet weather out and they’re ideal for our varied UK climate. They dry quickly after a shower and are still pretty breathable meaning they are not too hot when the sun comes out again. Likewise, they are warm enough if there’s a cold wind.

Conclusion
The Inov-8 Venturelite Pant are the most comfortable hiking trousers that I have worn and are perfect when carrying a rucksack with a waist belt. Very good for fast and light hiking and scrambling in our changeable British climate. Ideal for nearly all year round use. Because of the close fit it’s easy to add windproof, waterproof or insulated trousers over them in extremely cold conditions. The only potential negative with the trousers maybe that there’s no belt for adjusting the waist and the elastic could possibly be slightly tighter. Overall, however, my favourite hiking trousers.
